MUHC Psychiatry Department/Mental Health Mission shines at Pharmaprix Run
A big shout-out to the MUHC Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health Mission for their outstanding participation in the recent Pharmaprix Run. The Montreal edition of the Canada-wide event, held on June 9, raised an impressive $180,656 in total.
The team secured the top fundraising position, contributing $5,081. “This year’s run, despite the rain, was a beautiful morning filled with many smiles,” says Dr. Karine Igartua, Chief of Pyschiatry. "This annual event for women's mental health brings in many resiliency factors: exercise, community, belonging, and altruism,” she adds. “It is a great way to do good for ourselves and our community.”
These funds will be donated to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation to improve access to mental health services and resources for women and the entire community. “It will finance mind-body/yoga interventions for patients of the Mental Health mission as well as research to evaluate the efficacy of treatments we offer to sexual and gender minority patients in the McGill University Sexual Identity Centre,” explains Dr. Igartua.
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this vital cause!
