Exploring the future hospital: a guided tour of the Lachine Hospital construction site
On a sunny day, guided by Claude Lemieux and Jean-Simon Frenette of the SQI, members of various hospital teams, at the invitation of Technical Services Manager Pierre-Marc Legris, visited the site of our future care facility. It was more than a simple observation of the work in progress; it was a dive into the heart of the future hospital, a look at what's usually hidden behind the walls.
Detailed explanations from Louis Simard, site superintendent, and his Axor colleagues highlighted the countless challenges and details to be considered in this kind of undertaking, illustrating the speed at which the work is progressing. The tour also underscored the involvement of various MUHC teams and each department's dedication to this major project.
Whereas just six months ago, the site consisted of a vast hole, we can now see plumbing and electrical work progressing on certain floors, outlining the future wards and patient rooms. The excitement was palpable within the group, with everyone able to visualize future care units, operating rooms and patient rooms, which are all shaping up in this transformation.
The tour marked not only an important milestone in the physical construction of the hospital, but also, a moment of team building and a shared vision for the future of healthcare in the Lachine community.
