Celebrating World Anesthesia Day
On World Anesthesia Day, we celebrate the outstanding work of the Department of Anesthesia at the MUHC. Serving all hospital sites, the team provides comprehensive anesthesia, sedation, and pain management for patients of all ages.

"Anesthesia is a fairly unique specialty, in that we are absolutely necessary for safe and humane care during surgical and other diagnostic and procedural interventions," says Dr. Vynka Lash, Anesthesiologist-in-Chief.
Beyond their vital role in surgeries, the anesthesia team excels in prehabilitation medicine, preparing high-risk patients for surgery to improve outcomes and oversees the renowned Alan Edwards Pain Unit for chronic and cancer-related pain. Amongst many interdisciplinary collaborations, the team also plays a critical role in pain relief for trauma patients at the MGH and is integral to the care of high-risk cardiac obstetrics patients at the RVH.
