Interning in Financial Resources at the MUHC is an opportunity to learn how to maximize resources in order to provide quality services to patients and bring priority healthcare projects to life. During your internship, you'll see that each work day is different.
Our interns have the opportunity to:
- participate in day-to-day functions (accounts payable and receivable, general accounting, etc.)
- reconcile accounts payable
- perform data validation
- assist with billing for patient accounts
- analyze clinical data volumes
- perform basic financial reconciliation
- perform costs analysis
- produce cost files

Each year, Procurement processes more than 800,000 orders, negotiates more than 200 contracts, and orders more than 20,000 different products.
From medical equipment and construction services to computer hardware and specialized equipment, our purchasing work requires us to take into account market challenges and the hospital’s environment.
Internship tasks and projects vary depending on your field of study and experience. You might:
- create, transmit and manage purchase orders
- manage material shortages
- negotiate agreements and public tenders
- perform database management
- create products and contracts in the ERP (Entreprise Resource Planning) system
- and more!
