Organ and Tissue Donation
We are dedicated to helping people through the steps of organ and tissue donation. We:
- provide information to patients and families considering organ and tissue donation
- support the families of donors
- ensure compassion throughout the process
- respect the cultural and spiritual beliefs of donors and their families
- help manage all aspects of donation
We work hard to teach people about the importance of organ and tissue donation. We do this in the hospital and in the community.
We strive to:
- improve the donation process
- give patients and families the support they need
- encourage a culture at the MUHC that sees donation as an important part of end-of-life care
- help make living easier for patients waiting for transplants
- Support for families coping with the death of a family member, memory making and keepsakes.
- Support for families during the organ and tissue donation process.
- Development of tools and protocols to assist the donation process.
- Education to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.
