MUHC Ombudsman
About the Ombudsman's Office
If you are experiencing difficulties navigating the MUHC system or wish to lodge a complaint, please feel free to reach out to the Ombudsman's Office.
We are independent of the MUHC directorates with the mandate to:
- give objective assessments of difficult situations
- make recommendations to improve the quality of care and services when warranted, reasonable and feasible
- help patients and their representatives:
- obtain information
- communicate with care team members
- formulate a complaint
- provide consultations on the rights and obligations of healthcare providers, patients and families
- intervene when there are concerns that the rights of a person or a group are not being respected (including reports of mistreatment)
We can be reached by email, online form or telephone. In-person meetings are available by appointment.
Our frequently asked questions (FAQ) section may answer many questions about how the Ombudsman’s Office can help patients and their families.
