4th Annual Wear Red Day
Objective: To raise funds for the MUHC Women’s Healthy Heart Initiative (WHHI), in support of Wendy Wray, Nurse Director of the WHHI Clinic. The objective of the Women’s Healthy Heart Initiative (WHHI) is to increase awareness of women’s risk of heart disease, establish a women’s CVD prevention clinic model, and promote public education of this pressing women’s issue.
The WHHI clinic opened at the RVH site in May 2009 and is the first Nurse-led, women’s heart disease prevention clinic in the country. Women at the clinic receive complete heart disease risk assessment treatment, counselling and close follow-up within a collaborative nurse-physician practice. The clinic staff is also actively engaged in giving public and collegial talks promoting the awareness of women’s heart disease risk and this care model.
