The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre is seeking a business executive with broad and deep operational expertise to oversee the Administration of the RI-MUHC including Office of Business Development, more specifically to collaboratively develop a plan to maximize the economic and social impact of current and future research projects.

Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, the Chief Operating and Development Officer provides executive and administrative leadership and assists with the strategic growth and development of the Research and Innovation and the oversight of research administration operations at a high executive level. Bridge building and problem-solving are integral to the responsibilities of this position to enhance the RI’s relationship with the MUHC and McGill University partners. The incumbent will play an important liaison and resource role to the investigators and administrators of the research program groups, senior leadership, and will serve on relevant committees and working groups.

More specifically, the incumbent is responsible for the oversight of overall operations and coordination of research initiatives in collaboration with other entities’ staff, industry, financial and government partners. This program also includes a range of innovative, value-added activities to support the Institute researchers and the development of products from their discoveries.

As a visionary with an entrepreneurial spirit, the Chief Operating and Development Officer will be able to plan for the future from both a strategic and tactical perspective. He/she will be highly dynamic, both people- and results-oriented, and able to manage change effectively. This highly credible and much-respected individual is recognized for his/her integrity, objectivity, fairness, tremendous emotional intelligence, political acumen and outstanding communication skills in both official languages. Impassioned about the research and academic priorities of the RI-MUHC, the influence of the Chief Operating and Development Officer and his/her inspiring collaborative leadership, will be essential to attaining the RI-MUHC’s objectives in excellence and promoting each person’s commitment to this shared objective.
