Shirley Lehnert, PhD

Primary Axis:
Cancer
Research Focus:

Genetic profiling of radio- and drug resistant cells using micro-array technology in order to develop methods for prediction of tumor radioresponse and understand radiation/drug interactions and cross-resistance. Development of novel methods of radiosensitization by targeting growth factor receptors and perturbation of signal transduction pathways. Development of drug delivery devices for radiosensitizing drugs. Research with biodegradable polymers and hydrogels to evaluate drug combinations in conjunction with external beam and interstitial radiation and the development of systems for intra-tumoral delivery of radionuclides.Ionizing radiation, radiobiology, radiation oncology, tumor models, genetic profiling, DNA repair, biodegradable polymers, hydrogels
