Research Focus:

Our research encompasses several aspects of acute kidney injury (AKI) in children. We are attempting to characterize this disease by evaluating different definitions and performing studies to evaluate the effect of AKI on various outcomes in different diagnostic populations. We are also studying new diagnostic tests, including serum marker of glomerular filtration rate and novel urinary protein biomarkers of AKI, by evaluating their role in early AKI detection, characterization of AKI severity and prediction of long-term renal outcome.Pediatrics; nephrology; glomerular filtration rate; acute kidney injury; continuous renal replacement therapy; biomarkers; diagnostic tests.
