Celia Rodd, MD

Primary Axis:
Musculoskeletal Disorders
Research Focus:

Research focuses on pediatric bone health issues and calcium homeostasis; these studies range from collaborative work on assessing the natural history of glucocorticoid induced osteopenia, assessing prevalence and risk factors of vertebral fractures in high risk populations and evaluating the safety of new bisphosphonates. A dose response trial in healthy breastfed neonates assessing optimal vitamin D status is under way, with plans for longitudinal follow up. Additional studies will target high risk populations to determine their vitamin D status and if suboptimal, ways to enhance this.
