Pioneering scientific contributions to child health in two main areas: with respect to the care of children with a chronic illness, and in injury prevention. Studies conducted examined the propensity of any chronic disease to lead to psychosocial problems. This “non-categorical approach” is now widely used in research and health service organization. Also popularized the use of RCTs in health services to evaluate nurses, social workers, or lay family counsellors’ ability to assist families of children with chronic conditions.
