Seeking the facts on medical marijuana

This week the New York Times published an interview with, Dr. Mark Ware, Director of Clinical Research at the MUHC’s Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit and Director of the Canadian Consortium for the Investigation of Cannabinoids, conducted during the recent meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), where he held a symposium titled: Cannabis and Medicine: a New Frontier in Therapeutics. The Cedars Cancer Centre focused squarely on patients

The all-new Cedars Cancer Centre at the MUHC was featured on CBC News. The report explained how the spaces dedicated to oncology at the Glen site were designed to improve the well-being of patients, notably by flooding their rooms with natural light. Our care teams are also thrilled with the new equipment, which will allow them to deliver leading-edge treatment. The centre will launch its activities at the end of April, with the transfer of the Royal Victoria Hospital to the Glen site. Click here to find out more.

Reorganization of the health care network

Earlier this month, the Métro newspaper reported on the transformation currently underway at the MUHC. In 2015, we will concentrate on our specialized care mission while reducing the number of beds and outpatient visits related to primary and secondary care. To compensate for this change, the Hôpital de Verdun and the Lakeshore Hospital are in the process of making additional beds available, and partnerships have been forged with establishments in the Greater Montreal area to ensure that patients have access to local services. Richard Fahey provides overview of the Glen site

The MUHC Is Moving on a Grand Scale

After almost two years of careful planning, the MUHC is set to begin to largest hospital move ever undertaken in Canada. In a report broadcast on MaTV, Michèle Lortie, Glen Site Activation Project Director, delivered an update on this large-scale operation and highlighted the challenges involved in hospital moves. MUHC at the Forefront of Social Pediatrics

As reported in the Montreal Gazette this week, the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation, McGill University, the Université de Montréaland the Fondation du Dr Julien will establish two research chairs to measure the impact of social pediatrics on the lives of children and their families. The Nicolas Steinmetz - Gilles Julien Chair in Social Pediatrics in the Community will be jointly held by McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation.
