Record-breaking $350,000 raised at annual Cedars Cancer Institute Raffle & Auction
Montreal December 9, 2009 – Through the sale of two thousand five hundred tickets for their Annual Raffle and Abracadabra Auction, the Cedars Cancer Institute raised an unprecedented $350,000 for The Best Care for Life Campaign of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) this year. More than 900 people enjoyed a spirited evening of conviviality, fun and fundraising at the December 2nd event, which was held at the elegant Le Windsor.
Each ticket, which sold for $125, gave the holder a chance to win prizes that included a Ladies Cartier Déclaration watch valued at $23,900 courtesy of Chateau D’Ivoire and cash prizes totalling $50,000. Guests were entertained by hosts CJAD’s Andrew Carter and superstar comedian Caroline Rhea, and enjoyed delectable delights by Bon Appetit Caterer.
Once again this year, incredible items were available at the Auction, such as a one-week vacation in a private villa in Acapulco, Caroline Rhea’s insider tour of New York City talk shows such as The View, with backstage passes to meet stars such as Whoppi Goldberg, and prime seats for the Habs Centennial game at the Bell Centre.
The real champion of the evening was the Cedars Breast Clinic however, which will receive a much-anticipated Digital Mammography unit, courtesy of Cedars Cancer Institute and its generous donors and sponsors.
