The selection committee of the annual Mediacorp award recognized the MUHC and the RI-MUHC as top employers

The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and the Research Institute of the MUHC are considered among the best places to work, and build a career in Montreal, according to Mediacorp who released their list of Montreal's Top Employers for 2013 today.

The selection committee of the annual Mediacorp award recognized the MUHC and the RI-MUHC as top employers because of the benefits offered to employees that permit a healthy work-life balance. They were also recognized for their ongoing employee mentoring and training opportunities and the support given to new parents, notably onsite day care facilities.

“It was a great honour to learn of our recent designation as one of the Top 15 employers of Montreal, alongside the MUHC,” says Dr. Vassilios Papadopoulos, Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer of the RI-MUHC. “Although humbled by this news, it certainly comes as no surprise. As I walk through our labs, clinics and offices and meet various research teams, I feel privileged to be in the company of such creativity, diversity, intellect, skill and collaborative atmosphere. Ultimately, this designation is thanks to all staff working at the RI-MUHC.”

"This is the fifth time that the MUHC has been recognized as one of Montreal’s Top Employers, and it confirms what most MUHC employees already knew – that this is a great place to work,” says Joanne Brodeur, MUHC Human Resources Director. “This award reflects our efforts to create a workspace that meets the expectations of employees, patients and their families.”

"This organization likes its employees to be involved. The administration is always open to suggestions and comments that could improve life at the hospitals.”

- Guillaume Durand, clinical nurse in the emergency department

"There is a real atmosphere of respect and efficiency here, and a desire to improve the quality of patient services."

- Sara Bélanger, neuropsychologist
