MUHC announces new Chairman and Officers of the Board of Directors

Claudio F. Bussandri Named Chair and Robert Rabinovitch as Vice-Chair

MONTREAL, Quebec – February 28, 2012 – At the first meeting of the McGill University Health Centre’s (MUHC) newly constituted Board of Directors, Mr. Claudio F. Bussandri was named Chairman of the Board of Directors. At this same meeting, Mr. Robert Rabinovitch was named Vice-Chair, Ms. Marie Giguère as Treasurer and Normand Rinfret as Secretary.

Mr. Claudio F. Bussandri, B.Eng., MBA, the new Chairman of the Board, has a long history with the organization. He is the founding Chairman of World Wide Hearing Foundation (WWH). Among other executive positions, he is the retired President and CEO of McKesson Canada and of Lantic Sugar Limited. He has held senior positions at Nabisco Brands Limited of Canada, including President of the Food Service Division. Mr. Bussandri is a past Chairman of Patheon, past-Chairman of the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. He was a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE), Executive Board member and former Chairman of the Canadian Association for Pharmacy Distribution Management (CAPDM), past Chairman of the Food and Consumer Products Manufacturers of Canada, and the Canadian Food Services Association. Mr. Bussandri is also on the board of the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf Foundation and a member of the Advisory Board of the Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University.

Dr. Robert Rabinovitch, M.A., PhD, the new Vice-Chairman of the Board, has been a member of the Board of Governors of McGill University since 1997 and is the past Chair of that Board.  He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the MUHC since 2007, and  Chairman of the Nunavut Trust Investment Committee. In 2008, he was appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Centre for Architecture and as President of Prix Italia in Rome. He is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of CBC/Radio-Canada.  He has held various positions with the Federal Government, including Under Secretary of State and Deputy Minister of Communications.

Ms. Marie Giguère is the Executive Vice-President, Legal Affairs and Secretariat, of the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec. She was previously a partner with Fasken Martineau and has served as Senior Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, and General Secretary of the Montréal Exchange, following which she became Senior Vice-President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of Molson Inc. Ms. Giguère holds a bachelor's degree in humanities from the Université de Montréal and another in civil law from McGill University.
