A winning pediatric care partnership
For parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family members of young children, construction of the new facilities for the Montreal Children’s Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is good news that’s been long awaited. Of course, all hope a trip to The Children’s will never be needed. However, once it opens its doors, the new MUHC Glen Campus will draw on its 106 years of success and excellence in pediatric care to help families within a compassionate, state-of-the-art environment.
The Shriners Hospitals for Children will also be moving to the Glen Campus! The new Shriners facility, which will be built adjacent to the Montreal Children’s Hospital, will contribute to the site by offering superior quality pediatric care to the community.
The new Shriners, with a total surface area of 173,000 sq. ft. (more than double its current area), will notably include four operating rooms, 22 private rooms and extensive research facilities. In keeping with the long-established links between the two organizations, the Montreal Children’s Hospital will share certain equipment and services with the Shriners. The close proximity to one another will offer invaluable opportunities for collaboration between the Montreal Children’s and Shriners Hospitals through the enrichment of pediatric orthopedic research and care.
The Glen Campus will transform health care for generations to come, contribute to the economic development of Greater Montreal, and revitalize the surrounding area. It will bring together The Montreal Children’s Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal Chest Institute, a Cancer Centre, the Research Institute of the MUHC, and the new Shriners Hospital for Children.
In 2014, young patients at The Montreal Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children will be welcomed to a remarkable site where exceptional health care professionals will offer the best care for children
