The patient room of the future

Room for privacy. Room for family. Room to breathe. Room to heal.
Our patients are at the heart of our plans for the new McGill University Health Centre. And where do hospital patients spend most of their time? In their rooms. That’s why a key element of our new campuses is what we’re calling the patient room of the future. At all three of our campuses, every patient will be housed in a private, thoughtfully designed space where natural light, a comfortable family area and a private washroom will heal body and mind while also limiting the spread of infection. Of course, not every patient we treat is staying in the hospital overnight. For the thousands of outpatients who visit the MUHC for tests, appointments and day surgery, we are putting just as much care into developing waiting rooms, office spaces and other ambulatory facilities that will make outpatient visits as efficient and convenient as possible.
