On July 13 at 10:00 a.m. the MUHC hosted Health and Social Services Minister
Dr. Yves Bolduc for the public announcement of the start date for medicare
coverage of fertility treatments in Quebec. To access the Ministry’s press release, please click here.
The new law will come into effect on August 5, 2010. The government has
committed $2million to enhance MUHC facilities and supply equipment needed to
optimize delivery of care. This work will be conducted progressively over the
coming months and we therefore ask people to please be patient while we work to
meet the increased demand.
There are many details relating to the
new fertility
treatment program that are
yet to be defined. Given the clinical and administrative impact this will have
on the MUHC, a multi-disciplinary transition committee has been created at the
McGill Reproductive Centre to ensure that the Centre is ready to accommodate
new patients before the August 5 implementation date. Further details will be
added on our website as they become available.
In the meantime, the MRC
can keep a record of your name and contact information if you wish to receive
updates on the government guidelines as they become available. Contact our call
centre by phone on 514-843-1650, or by e mail to info [at] mcgillivf [dot] com for more information
(please note: this list is NOT a wait list for IVF services). Finally, if you
have any questions about the new program, you may find the answers in the Q&A
section of this website.
