Dr. Olivenstein and his team now offer them a therapeutic alternative not based on medication: broncho-thermoplasty. This innovative technique circulates a heated probe in the bronchi to relax the muscle and facilitate the passage of air. A breath of hope for many... Dr. Ronald Olivenstein came back to Montreal in 1984 as a medical intern at the Jewish General Hospital. He turned to research in respiratory medicine in 1988 at the MUHC Montreal Chest Institute where he founded the asthma clinic in 1992 and where he is still Director. His research brings new hope for the non-medicinal treatment of asthma: broncho-thermoplasty.
