Job Summary: 

 

Reporting to McGill University, Vice Principal (Health Affairs) & Dean of Medicine, the successful candidate will develop an annual Project Plan and business plan in consultation with the Rossy Cancer Network – and in close association with the "Clinical Quality Governance Group" and the private donor. The Project Plan will include key measurable goals, budget, gift allocation and steps involved by each member to implement the Project Plan. Upon completion of the Project Plan, it shall be presented for necessary approvals to the private donor, the External Advisory Committee to the project and the key actors in the Rossy Cancer Network.

The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring appropriate resources allocation between the partners to support the initiative and develop a sustainable funding model beyond the planned duration (ten years) of the Project Plan to meet the cross-institute collaborative care approach and the cancer health services improvement.

He or she will oversee the development of information management tools to facilitate knowledge transfer to support the Project Plan implementation across the Network. This will involve the creation of tools to track common quality indicators, public reporting of key measures across institutions which will include consistent cancer patient registry across the Network and benchmarking patient experience measures.

Functions

 The Executive Director is responsible for developing a Project Plan and budget spanning the three current teaching hospitals with cancer missions (MUHC, Jewish General, and St. Mary’s); to advance strategic goals, health services research and clinical operations to realize the objectives of the Rossy Cancer Network.

To achieve these goals, the Executive Director will need to establish strong inter-organizational governance to improve cancer care among the hospitals and the University, lead efforts on behalf of the members of "Cancer Quality Governance Group" currently in place; and manage and oversee the progress of the highly functional Work Streams Groups on (1) integrated view of patients and data, (2) patient experience, (3) indicators and outcomes, (4) communications and (5) synoptic pathology reporting – key data for the development of the Project Plan.

 

Requirements: 
  • Clinical professional background preferred but not mandatory, with demonstrated senior management experience, or health executive experience (Postgraduate degree, MBA or Masters in Health Administration) with the managerial capacity to move an important agenda for quality and performance; 
  • Energetic, mature and experienced leader familiar with Montreal and the Province of Quebec’s health care and health policy environment; 
  • Strong research background will be considered, particularly those with interest in knowledge transfer, the management of quality and performance improvement or implementation science; 
  • Experience with improvement initiatives in health care; 
  • Experience with healthcare information management, an asset;  
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills for electronic capture and reporting;
  • Strong project leadership and execution skills; 
  • Capacity to work well with senior governance group;
  • Capacity to effectively mobilize senior professionals in an academic health science community; 
  • Strong communication skills both written and spoken are required (in both English and French);
  • An effective self-starter with the ability to exercise initiative and judgement;Demonstrated leadership qualities, including conflict resolution and problem-solving skills; 
  • Ability to establish diverse relationships;
  • Commitment to and identification with the Rossy Cancer Network vision and work.
