Job Summary: 

Under the immediate authority of the Associate Director of Nursing for the Cancer Care Mission, the Clinical Nurse Specialist controls certain programs that are offered to the clientele throughout different MUHC sites. She/he acts as an expert in clinical matters, consultation, teaching, evaluation and research in the spheres of influence involving clients, physicians, professionals and other clinical staff members as well as care unit managers. The incumbent assumes a leadership role in the promotion and evaluation of best nursing care practices within and outside of the MUHC.

Functions

  • Collaborates in defining the role, objectives and priorities of the programs to which he/she is assigned in accordance with the mission of the institution;
  • Creates and develops, with the managers involved, policies, programs, standards, rules and procedures and ensures their update and coordination;
  • Ensures the follow-up and controls the application of these policies, programs, standards, rules and procedures;
  • Advises and supports the managers to which he/she is assigned concerning these policies, programs, standards, rules and procedures;
  • Within his/her field of authority, provides directives to different administrative units;
  • Assumes responsibility for specific mandates, coordinates their implementation and monitors their results;
  • Ensures the interaction and complementarity of her/his activities with those of the institution’s various other sectors;
  • Gathers, analyses and manages the data needed for the accomplishment of her/his functions and proposes suitable recommendations to the appropriate persons;
  • Organizes and coordinates the work groups needed to carry out her/his mandates.

Requirements: 
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing;
  • Two years of Nursing experience in oncology;
  • Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification in oncology would be an asset;
  • Member in good standing of the Order of Nurses of Québec (ONQ);
  • Initiative and creativity;
  • Superior ability to analyse and synthesize;
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to carry out various mandates simultaneously;
  • Clinical project management skills as well as ability in leading interprofessional teams;
