The Research Institute of the MUHC
The Research Institute of the MUHC is a precious asset for our hospitals and for the communities we serve. As the largest and most comprehensive medical and life sciences research facility of its kind in Canada, it is home to some of the world’s foremost medical scientists. Institute researchers from a wide range of disciplines study human disease using the latest tools and techniques. Close links between the Research Institute and the MUHC hospitals help scientists quickly translate their findings into new and better therapies.
The Research Institute has more than 600 researchers, 1,000 postdoctoral fellows and graduate students and operates more than 300 laboratories across the MUHC. Research Institute investigators are incredibly productive. Last year alone research projects at the MUHC generated over $100 million in research funds, resulting in the publication of 2,000 peer-reviewed papers and the filing of 35 patents for medical inventions.
