Sun awareness and melanoma (Feb 23, 2009)

Guest: Dr. Beatrice Wang (Director of the MUHC Melanoma Clinic)

Guest: Dr. Beatrice Wang (Director of the MUHC Melanoma Clinic)

I know it’s only February, but already we’re thinking about spring on Health Matters. Joining us on today’s show is Dr. Beatrice Wang, Director of the Melanoma Clinic at the MUHC – the only comprehensive clinic of its kind in North America.

Melanomas are becoming increasingly common, and perhaps more worryingly patients are becoming increasingly younger. Dr. Wang explains exactly what a melanoma is, how to recognize it and what to do about it. She also provides some important advice for sun seekers, especially those about to head down south for spring break in the coming weeks.

Our guest interviews follow the World News In Three Medical Minutes – a regular feature on Health Matters where we summarize the cutting edge medical stories making headlines around the world.
