brain scanSleep problems have been linked with all kinds of disorders from obesity to increased risk of suicide. Earlier this year, a new study in the journal Neurology discovered a link between a rare sleep disorder called "REM sleep behavior disorder" and dementia. More than half of people studied with this disorder develop a neurodegenerative disease, such as Parkinson's disease, within 12 years of diagnosis. On today’s Health Matters show we welcome the lead author of this study, MUHC researcher Dr. Ron Postuma, to tell us more about his research.

Our guest interviews follow the World News In Three Medical Minutes – a regular feature on Health Matters where we summarize the cutting edge medical stories making headlines around the world.
