Guest: Dr. Harley Eisman – Director of Pediatric Emergency Services at the MUHC
Today we talk about alcohol abuse in teens. Last month, in two separate incidents, teenagers were brought into the Montreal Children’s Hospital Emergency Department after consuming dangerous levels of alcohol. Both kids stopped breathing and ended up in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Dr. Harley Eisman – Director of Pediatric Emergency Services at the MUHC – takes us back to the ER on the night these drunk teens arrived. He walks us through the two cases and explains why alcohol abuse in teens is so dangerous, and what parents and friends can do if a teen they know has been drinking.
Our guest interviews follow the World News In Three Medical Minutes – a regular feature on Health Matters where we summarize the cutting edge medical stories making headlines around the world.
