On February 18th, Luciano D’Iorio and Karen Aziz, parents of premature babies born at the Royal Victoria Hospital, organized a fundraising cocktail at the Club Sportif MAA in support of the Royal Victorial Hospital Foundation. Among the honorary guests was Emilie Tremblay who was born prematurely 22 years ago at the Royal Vic. In her emotional speech, Emilie spoke about her slim chances of survival during her first few weeks of life but that today she is a testament to why everyone was there that night. Thanks to the 230 people who attended the event, the organizers were able to raise over $45,000 which will go towards the purchase of much-needed equipment for the hospital’s Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit.
